High on a hill overlooking Darmstadt is the city’s most visible landmark – the Wedding Tower. Once upon a time the Mathildenhöhe was a thriving centre of art nouveau which is now displayed in the Museum dedicated to the artists’ colony. Today, the Institut Mathildenhöhe is the setting for exhibitions of both national and international acclaim. But there’s plenty more to interest both visitors to the city and residents alike including the State museum of Hesse, Darmstadt Theatre, Kunsthalle as well as a range of galleries and the central station.
