Darmstadtcongress is a new network promoting the city of Darmstadt as a conference venue. The association that comprises the darmstadtium, Wissenschaftsstadt Darmstadt Marketing GmbH, hotels, event agencies, trade fair construction companies, taxi companies and inner city shops, now provides a central contact point for all event organisers.

"darmstadtcongress brings together a large number of differing service providers in the convention and conference sector located in the city and surrounding region. More are welcome," says Klaus Krumrey, Managing Director of the darmstadtium.

Whatever an event organizer needs to know – whether it is about accommodation, shopping, fine dining outside the official programme, compiling a programme of entertainment or finding an event location  for an evening get-together as part of an event – the members of the association can help. darmstadtcongress is a win-win situation for organizers and customers alike."

Through a major advertising campaign darmstadtcongress also aims to raise the profile of Darmstadt - city of science and art nouveau - throughout Germany and Europe as a congress destination. This announcement was made by the Lord Mayor of Darmstadt, Walter Hoffmann. "We want to build our national and international audience in order to attract even more important congresses to the city," said Hoffmann. "The darmstadtium is the perfect venue for attracting large numbers of visitors to Darmstadt."

The darmstadtcongress initiative currently comprises 23 companies and institutions from in and around Darmstadt. These include the darmstadtium and other venues, hotels, event agencies, trade fair construction and taxi companies as well as city centre shops, Wissenschaftsstadt Darmstadt Marketing GmbH and the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) Darmstadt Rhine-Main-Neckar. "Many congress venues are suffering because the congress centres and other local service providers are all operating individually. darmstadtcongress combines the strengths of the darmstadtium and the location creating a win-win situation for guests and location alike," said a satisfied Hildegared Schoger, deputy managing director.

"dc"  - a customer magazine - is to be published three times each year to provide news and information about the city of science and the association's members. The first edition is now being distributed via association members.
